About

Let's build a better Marin for all of us.

Rooted in Marin is a community-centered engagement and education process to understand displacement in Marin County.
Led by the Cities and Towns and County of Marin, we aim to craft tools and resources that support local communities affected by displacement.

Project Activities

Project kickoff
May – July 2024
The project team convened an Advisory Committee of representatives from key stakeholder groups in the community to identify shared community needs, shape anti-displacement education and outreach tools, and provide strategic guidance on the community engagement process.
Community engagement
August - November 2024
From August to November 2024, we heard from communities across Marin about their experiences and concerns with housing and displacement through a countywide survey, community workshop, and several focus groups.
Draft report
October 2024 – January 2025
The project team drafted the final report, synthesizing the community engagement process and evaluating anti-displacement programs and policies to guide the Cities, Towns, and County of Marin to take actionable steps towards crafting anti-displacement measures. The project team collaborated closely with the Advisory Committee in an iterative process to refine goals, shape guiding principles, and incorporate their feedback into the final report.
Presentations
First half of 2025
The project team will present the final report to the Advisory Committee for final approval. With support from County staff, staff of the Cities, Towns, and County of Marin will bring the report as an informational item to their City Councils and the Board of Supervisors.
